English Language Assessment - eDiagnostic

Diagnostic Assessment

The eDiagnostic assessment has been specially designed by the Language Centre to assess how well applicants whose first language is not English can cope with academic English within a Higher Education environment.

You are about to sit a diagnostic assessment which will assess your English language ability and related academic skills set. It is not a test in that there is no pass or fail mark. It is merely an assessment of your academic English abilities that allows us to ascertain the nature of the support, if any, you need.

The assessment is subdivided into three sections:

Reading

Listening

Writing

Before submitting your assessment. you are asked to enter your contact details should we need to contact you to arrange a telephone interview. The assessment has no time restriction, but it is recommended that you spend no more than an hour on on any of the three main sections. You may do the sections in whatever order you choose. Please note that your answers are not saved until you actually submit. You may wish therefore to first type your responses in a text editor of your choice and copy and paste them in once complete.

You will be notified of the outcome of your assessment by the ADTIS Director.
